Victoria Police Support & Welfare Services


In addition to the comprehensive range of welfare services offered by TPAV, members are also encouraged to consider availing themselves of the various services offered by Victoria Police Health, Safety & Wellbeing Division.

Police Chaplaincy is often described as ‘loitering with intent’ – being present with members, with frequency and regularity in order to foster relationships and build trust. Most units/stations have a Local Police Chaplain who visits regularly. Police Chaplains are multi-faith informed and available to meet at a time and location that suits the employee and their family.

Lifeline is a a national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24-hour crisis support and suicide prevention services. We exist so that no person in Australia has to face their darkest moments alone.






The equipt app, a police-specific wellbeing app built by police for police, was launched in 2016. It was funded by a joint investment by The Police Association Victoria and Victoria Police and developed in association with the University of Melbourne.


Key features of the app Rapid Stress Relief Tools:

  • When stress levels rise, equipt provides immediate relief with mindfulness breathing techniques and simple body exercises to reduce tension.
  • Wellbeing and Prevention Tools: Proactive wellbeing is essential for long-term health. equipt provides tools to improve sleep quality and maintain important relationships.
  • Wellbeing Tracking Over Time: Officers can confidentially track their mental and physical health, gaining a clear view of their progress over time and explore areas for long-term improvement.
  • Industry-Specific Support: Tailored support and resources are available on equipt to meet the specific needs of police officers, including details and links to contact TPAV, BlueHub and Victoria Police Wellbeing Services in addition to quick access to TELUS Health EAP and Acacia EAP.
  • equipt includes Lifestyle Tools to encourage healthy lifestyle habits, a Rapid Response Tool that offer strategies to relieve and manage immediate stress, and the Call BackUp feature which provides users with access to mental health support services and the option to call a nominated support person.
