Walk the Kokoda trail: Expressions of interest invitedThe Police Association is making available an opportunity for an Association member who would like to walk the Kokoda trail while mentoring a disengaged youth (from Melbourne’s northern suburbs) over a 10-day period in June/July 2017.
The successful applicant will have all travel and accommodation expenses covered and will join a wider group that will walk the Kokoda trail at this time as part of a Victoria Police program run by Supt Nigel Howard of State Emergencies & Security Command.
While the Association will meet all travel and accommodation costs associated with this walk, the successful applicant will need to be prepared to;
- Attend and complete all twice-weekly training sessions, commencing February 13, for the four months leading up to the Kokoda walk to commence on June 23 (these sessions will take place in diverse areas of Melbourne, from Mt Macedon, the ‘Glasgow Track’, located at the Dandenongs and certain locations in the Moreland/Moonee Valley area). This walk is no ordinary walk. You must be prepared and fit as it is a physically taxing challenge.
- Take part in this venture in their own time.
How to apply:
Simply send an email to Journal@tpav.org.au to express your interest by no later than close of business, Friday 13 January, 2017.
Please call Supt Nigel Howard on 0407 565 154 or Sandro Lofaro (TPAV) on 9468 2600
