On behalf of the Northern Suburbs Branch of the NSW Retired and Former Police Association I would like to extend our sincere condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Glen Humphris and Constable Josh Prestney.

The loss of both experienced and aspiring members under these circumstances is devastating. We fully understand the grief that everyone must be experiencing. Most of us have lost workmates as a result of the work that we do or did. Our thoughts go out to you and your members, but particularly to the families and friends of Lyn, Kevin, Glen and Josh.

This shocking incident is a stark reminder of the dangers that all Police face due to the nature of their work. It doesn't matter what safe practices and procedures we put in place, there is and always will be an element of risk.

When we finally get to resume our meetings, we will provide a minute’s silence and respect for Lyn, Kevin, Glen and Josh. They will be remembered.

Stay safe,

Greg Muir

To whom it may concern,

I am a former member of the 'N.S.W. Police Force' with in excess of 30 years’ experience.

I wish to express my shock and tremendous sadness at the recent tragic loss of your four officers in such terrible circumstances earlier this week.

I, like all Police officers, have known many officers during the course of our Police careers who have sadly died, or been seriously injured both on and off duty, as a result of their chosen vocation.

All Police deaths are tragic events and this incident is no exception, especially considering the appalling circumstances, which I'm sure your investigators will let nothing deter them from bringing those responsible to justice.

As a retired and proud Policeman, I just wanted to express my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased officers involved.

I also wish to pass on my thoughts and prayers to all members of Victoria Police during this trying time.

Sincerely,

Michael Donohoe
Senior Sergeant (Retired)
New South Wales Police Force
